I started Body Justice Podcast in 2020 with two goals in mind:
1. To amplify diverse voices in the Eating Disorder field.
2. To provide free education and tools to anyone in active recovery from an Eating Disorder- and to professionals treating eating disorders.
Mainstream eating disorder treatment tends to be catered to the thin, white, affluent, cisgender female, able-bodied and neurotypical demographic.
While this demographic certainly exists and struggles- the vast majority of eating disorder sufferers hold identities outside of that stereotype and enter in treatment that was not designed for them, if they can even access it at all.
Unfortunately, many of these people are then labeled ‘resistant’ when treatment doesn’t ‘work’ the way it’s supposed to.
When we continue to view eating disorder recovery through such a narrow lens and do not question the treatment itself, we leave out the most vulnerable people- those with marginalized identities.
So, Body Justice Podcast was born to help raise awareness and share lived experience stories of healing from eating disorders among diverse populations.
I hope you feel seen, understood and supported by the voices showcased in these episodes. I also hope you learn a thing or two and get to bring it into your own community- knowledge is truly power.
You can find the full archive of episodes on both Apple and Spotify. Below are some of the most recent episodes.
