Ketamine Assisted Therapy in San Diego
Virtual Ketamine Therapy in California
Overview
At Eating Disorder and OCD Therapy, we offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) in collaboration with Journey Clinical — a trusted medical platform that supports the safe and ethical use of ketamine in therapeutic settings. This holistic, research-backed modality combines low-dose ketamine with psychotherapy to support deeper breakthroughs, emotional regulation, and long-term healing. We provide the therapy; Journey Clinical handles medical evaluation, prescribing, and follow-up care. Whether you're seeking ketamine therapy in San Diego or virtual ketamine-assisted psychotherapy in California, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
Who is Ketamine THerapy for?
KAP may be a supportive option for adults experiencing:
Depression (including treatment-resistant depression and chronic suicidal ideation)
Anxiety and panic disorders
PTSD or complex trauma
Emotional rigidity, stuckness, or lack of access to deeper insight
KAP is appropriate for people who have not found sufficient relief through traditional talk therapy alone and who are medically cleared by Journey Clinical’s team.
The 5 stages of The Ketamine Therapy process:
Initial medical consult with Journey Clinical (Zoom-based):
Review of your medical and psychiatric history, education about ketamine assisted therapy, and determination of eligibility
If approved, ketamine lozenges will be shipped to your home with self-administration instructions
Preparation session(s) with your Ketamine therapist:
Set intentions, build therapeutic alliance, and prepare your mindset and setting for the experience
This may take a few sessions depending on your unique circumstances and preferences
Dosing session (1–2 hours):
Lozenge self-administered in-office or at home
Supportive, eyes-closed experience with music and therapist presence
Some people prefer to talk during sessions and others prefer a more internal experience, we recommend you try both and see what feels best. Some people spend half the session internal and the rest processing by talking with their therapist.
Integration session(s):
Process and make meaning from insights, imagery, emotions, and how to apply them in daily life
Practice new coping skills or exposure challenges during the neuroplastic window (a week post ketamine session)
Follow-up with Journey Clinical
Regular check-ins every few dosing sessions to assess progress and manage ongoing prescriptions
Sessions may be conducted in-person in San Diego or virtually for clients across California. Please note that we cannot provide ketamine therapy in other states besides California.
What clients are saying about ketamine therapy:
"It calmed my mind and body enough to give me huge but obvious insights I was missing."
"I am able to lift the dark clouds myself now, instead of waiting for them to lift on their own."
“It's helped me become less rigid and more open to new ideas."
"I went from debilitating depression to feeling like I can breathe again."
"It helped me loosen some of the mental rigidity that had been cemented in me for years."
"It helped me break through barriers my mind was putting up in therapy. It's helped my mood, energy and focus."
What does Ketamine feel like?
The effects of ketamine, which most patients find pleasant, last for approximately 45 minutes. These effects can make you feel “far from” your body, and facilitate shifts in perception that can often feel expansive in nature. Your motor and verbal abilities will be reduced, so you’ll be lying down in a comfortable position during the experience. Once these effects subside, we’ll spend the remainder of our appointment giving you space to process and discuss your experience. While it may feel hard to articulate what happens during the experience, patients feel like the insights gained are clear.
